The port of Rio Grande is located at 32°07'20'S and 052°05'36'W of Greenwich. It is Brazil’s southernmost port, located at the west bank of the north canal, which is the natural outlet of the entire Lagoa dos Patos watershed. Rio Grande is among the most important ports in South America regarding productivity, as well as on offering fast services and of quality. It has consolidated itself as the port of Conesul. Due to an excellent transport infrastructure: road, railway and air, the port is considered one of the best in Brazil. Besides that, the multimodality it offers is an important factor for cost reduction and for an increase in the logistics efficiency, meaning more value to the goods that pass by its facilities

The port of Itajaí is a port complex built by both Itajaí Public Port and port terminals located in the shores of Itajaí river, which support entirely the logistic operations of Itajaí and Navegantes cities. Itajaí complex port is strategically located near the two main Brazilian highways - BR101 and BR470 - encompassing in a distance of 600 Km 4 capitals of the States: Santa Catarina, Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul and São Paulo. It is an excellent port option in the south of the country.

The port of Paranaguá is located in Parana State, Paranaguá city, in the south shore of Paranaguá bay. It is a natural shelter for vessels in view of the bay calm waters, and as from a safety perspective, it is an excellent port. It holds the largest export of agricultural products from Brazil, being considered the largest bulk port in Latin America and the third largest in container handling in Brazil. It has a total port organized area of over 420 Km².

The port of Santos is located in the city of Santos, São Paulo State, at 23°58’S and 46°17’W. It was opened in 1892 and is considered the largest port in Latin America, being responsible for over a quarter of the Brazilian balance of trade. As it works not only with distinct kinds of cargo – soya, wheat, coffee, maize, vehicles, containers, alcohol, liquid bulk cargo – but also as a touristic route for passenger ships (touristic cruises), Santos is one of Brazil’s most versatile port.

The port of Rio de Janeiro is in an inlet of the western shore of Guanabara bay, at 22°54’23” S and 43°10’22”W of Greenwich. The port pier comprehends the seafronts of Center and of the neighborhoods of Gamboa, Saúde, Santo Cristo and Caju. In Rio de Janeiro, it is split with the ports of Angra dos Reis, Itaguai, Niterói and Rio de Janeiro and operations are apportioned among those, depending on the type of it. The port counts on a large handling working with several kinds of cargo, such as iron ore, manganese, coal, wheat, gas and oil – considering those the main products exported.

The port of Porto Alegre is located in the city of Porto Alegre, capital of Rio Grande do Sul State. Port facilities are on the left shore of Guaíba river, Mauá Street, Center. Its origin is marked by the execution of constructions in the bar of Lagoa dos Patos, thus allowing navigation of large draft in the State. The port has a berthing area of 8.028 meters and is divided in three premises: Mauá Pier, Navegantes Pier and 5 covered yards. The first one is used for general cargo, the second for general cargo and liquid bulk cargo and the third is used for coal and liquid bulk cargo.

The port of Tramandaí is located in the city of Tramandaí, which is 118 Km far from the capital of the State, Porto Alegre. It has the coordinates 29° 59' 05" e 50° 08' 01" W. This port only operates chemical tankers. Tramandaí’s peculiarity is of operations carried out at open sea, where there are two mono buoys directly linked to shore tanks. There is no berthing area in that port. Tramandaí deserves special attention regarding provision of supplies and change of crewmembers because all transport is done by motorboat. Besides that, there are restrictions and the transport can only be done at daylight.

The port of Suape is located in Pernambuco State, between Ipojuca and Cabo de Santo Agostinho cities, within Recife metropolitan area. The port offers a modern structure, with depths between 15.5 m and 20.0 m, and a great expansion potential. In view of the strategic location in relation to the main sea courses of navigation, Suape is connected to over 160 ports in all continents, with direct lines to Europe, North America and Africa. The port already handles over 5 million tons of cargo per year. Among them, the most relevant are the liquid bulks (oil derivatives, chemical products, alcohols, plant oils, etc.) in charge of over 80% of the handling, and the container cargo. Suape can receive vessels of up to 170.000 TWD and of 14.50 m operation draft. With a 27Km² retro port, its outside and inside ports offer the necessary conditions to assist large size vessels.

The port of Pecem is a port terminal of the Brazilian northeastern coast, located in Ceará State, within Recife metropolitan area, in São Gonçalo do Amarante city. Pecém’s geographical condition of the shortest time of transit between Brazil, the US and Europe – an average of 7 days to arrive at destination – works out as an attractive to win owners and to push Brazilian exports. Regarding the maritime infra-structure, the terminal was designed to allow the access of most of the commercial vessels in operation. Berthing facilities have compatible depths with the latest generation ships, whether bulk or general cargo carriers, including containerships. Pecem’s Port Terminal aims to enable an integrated operation of port and industrial activities, necessary for the development of a complex with an Industrial Port feature. It is composed by 2 maritime piers, 1 for feedstock and steel products and the other for liquid bulk, particularly crude oil and oil derivatives.

The port of Salvador main characteristic is of an export profile of products and it stands out in handling of containers, general cargo, wheat, cellulose and by receiving cruises. It is one of Brazil’s largest shipper of fruits, with an expressive participation in the foreign trade. Salvador has a privileged location in Todos-os-Santos bay where it can assist and carry out operations with all kinds of cargo vessels. In addition, it is a port where tourism is much explored due to the great number of cruise ships.

The port of Aratu is a Brazilian port located in Bahia State, more specifically in Todo-os-Santos bay, city of Candeias, Caboto inlet, Aratu bay, near the entrance canal of Cotegipe, in front of the east shore of Maré island. Aratu is of great economic importance for Bahia State and, consequently, for the country, assisting import and export proceedings. Port facilities are composed by 4 terminals equipped for handling solid bulk, liquid and gas products. It can take a great variety of products, operating simultaneously ores and petrochemical products. The port of Aratu is responsible for 60% of the entire cargo handled by sea in Bahia, therefore it has a great importance for the economy of the state, because it serves as a mean of production outflow and of product entrance to the Camaçari Petrochemical Complex, to the Aratu Industrial Center (CIA) and the Camaçari Ford Complex.
